Hi, I am Elke Peherstorfer from Austria,
Language & Drama Pedagogic Teacher,
Yoga Teacher and Shiatsu Practicioner.
Passionate about life, nature, people, body and mind.
Lifelong learner and teacher.
Happy to share my time with you!
When I finished school I did not know at all what I wanted to do with my life. So I left Austria, went to Spain to widen my understanding of cultures, languages and life abroad. I lived in Barcelona, enjoyed the fast-paced lifestyle of the young city. There, I worked in language schools, and got to know the variety of our world by meeting many people from different places, different cultures, and different backrounds.
Inspired after this experience I did my degree in Language Teaching in the University of Vienna, but I was deeply missing the sensations I felt living abroad. So I joined a Spanish improvisational theatre group which gave me for for the first time a complete new experience of my body, my mind, my inner self(ves). This inspired me then for another study in Drama-Based Pedagogy.
Then, in 2017, after my studies I was again at the point of life, where I had to decide how to continue. And still, I did not know what to do. So, I just did what I felt I had to do, what everyone else was doing. Work. For me it meant: Teaching in a regular school.
Unfortunately shortly after I started I realized, this still was not what I wanted. So two years later I left again. I went back to Spain, this time I joined and worked at my brother’s surfcamps in Galicia and Andalucia.
Having had this opportunity to live this calm, peaceful life at the ocean, I finally had the first opportunity to deeply connect to my inner self, my inner wishes and my inner dreams. From then on, I got step by step closer to myself, practicing a lot of Yoga, Pilates, surfing, doing Yoga Teacher Trainings in 2019 and 2023 (Green Yoga International) , started my Shiatsu studies at the ESI (European Shiatsu Institute in Vienna, Berlin and Munich) in 2020. I jumped deep into a complete new understanding of my inner self.
For me the body is our palace, we have to take care of it as a whole and I am very glad that now I know my tools for finding my inner balance. It was not always that easy for me, as some traumatic memories left their marks in my body and mind. Especially the two knee surgeries at the age of 16 and 19 made me struggle a lot with the confidence and trust in my body. Having been that handicaped was hard for me to accept,I felt so lost and frustrated. And in Western medical treatment it was all about the knees, the broken ligaments, the surgery, the anasthesia, the physiotherapy..noone was asking about the rest of my body, my inner self.
What helped me to regain confidence, strength and trust in my body, was definitely my life at the ocean, Yoga and Shiatsu. Coming from a very rational natural-scientific family backround these paths were completely new to me, but definitely the ones, I wanted to take, I wanted to “take my time” for.
And having found these paths for myself I am very happy to share and helping also you to find your ways to a better connection, strength, trust, and confidence to your inner self.
What does it mean to tomatutiempo?
toma tu tiempo = take your time
To take time for yourself, your body, your mind, your passions, your needs, and your inner self.
we run and run…
We live in a rushed world. We live in a world dominated by stress, anxiety, busy lifestyles – we are running and running even though – where to and why? In our world it´s (too) easy to forget about – or even to lose completely – the connection to our inner selves.
Once this connection has been lost, the most difficult thing is to even know how to get back, how to reconnect.
take your time…
My own experience of getting lost and finding brought me to the idea of creating ‘tomatutiempo’. I would like to offer to others my strategies, my techniques and all that I have learned (and still learning) on my way through Yoga and Shiatsu. Our body is our palace, which has to be taken care of and needs to be given time and space: ‘tomatutiempo’.
There are no limits to ‘tomatutiempo’, there is no right, no wrong, whatever you feel you need in order to get a better connection to yourself is perfectly fine, is perfectly right.
find and learn your tools…
For me there are several tools. First, there is Yoga. Yoga practice, my daily routine, my Yoga classes, it is my daily reunion with myself, my body, my mind, my innerself.
Then, there is Shiatsu. This wonderful Japanese massage technique is much more than a massage, it opens doors into my inner self, it helps to restore and keep my energy flow alive. I am able to do this both by receiving, but also by giving it to others.
Then, for me there is nature, a jump into cold water or the surf of a wave.
And also the interaction with others. It might be just the little conversation I have with a stranger, or a smile I share and got back from the cashier in the supermarket. For me this is all about “tomatutiempo”, take myself time for these moments.
and connect to yourself…
It might seem like a wild mix, but in their essence all is about giving time, time to yourself, your body, and things you like, and after all, they are all connected. From verbal communication in language teaching, theatre playing, going to deeper nonverbal communication with the body through nature, Yoga and Shiatsu.
I help you!
I found my paths. My paths are to be continued. And I am happy to share them with you and to help you find a deeper connection to yourself!
